As I pointed out to my friend, Catherine (The Blissful Mind) we are very attached to social media. It’s a huge habit—an addiction, if you will. It’s everywhere and infiltrates every moment of waking life. And, it’s that way by design (as an advertising/marketing tool), and it takes some thought, and willpower to put it down!
All this tech can also be very useful. But it has to be us using it, and not the other way around.

A one-day-a-week digital detox may be all it takes for me to turn it around. Hey, Mark Z isn’t the bad guy here!On Catherine’s suggestion, I reserved 24/6 by Tiffany Shlain at the public library. I picked it up yesterday. Not the world’s greatest read, however…
It does drive home a point (see above). It’s not easy to put down the phone (or other technology–you make up the rules). Tiffany’s Tech Shabbat can be a huge eye opener and a huge relief. And if only we could get our kids to do it!
